Iraqi Woodland Camo Suit
Iraqi Woodland Camo Suit
A fascinating piece of Iraqi military history from the Saddam Hussein era.
This distinctive woodland pattern is an Iraqi adaptation of the American ERDL camouflage, rather than the later M81 Woodland pattern. Variations of it were worn by Iraqi forces during the Iran–Iraq War (1980–88) and are particularly associated with the Popular Army, with examples also turning up among Republican Guard personnel.
Interestingly, many examples were foreign manufactured, with Romanian production being attributed to some surviving uniforms.
Iraqi forces used a huge variety of camouflage throughout the 1980s and 90s, making genuine examples like this particularly interesting to collectors.
A proper piece of Saddam-era military history. 🇮🇶
